I can't update the firmware It says "Failed to update firmware on the selected drive." I have only one drive, which is this SSD, in my PC. I don't have a compatibility issue either.
Samsung Magician informs about update for NVMe SSD 980 PRO firmware. First NVMe updated well to the new firmware but for the second 980 PRO it makes the update as desired, but it does not the update and claims that there is an update, so the update failed.
Yeah Samsung Magician is where you have a lot of control over your ssd so if your doing a clean install of windows install Magician right after so you can update the drive If you've found my post to be helpful, Please like my Comments . Apparently, it's a known bug with Samsung disks. When I try to update the driver using Samsung Magician, it says: "Failed to update firmware on the selected drive." New version (that I can't install): 4B2QEXM7 Is this disk permanently broken? Is there any way to fix it with software? Or is the disk hardware definitely faulty?
Task Manager showed 6 Samsung Magician sub-process running. All consuming 0% CPU so I decided to kill the main Samsung Magician. Restarted Magician. Firmware updates hadn't been applied and we're both available to update again. Didn't do this. Restarted PC and all started up again as normal. Later, I'll try a single update after doing a backup of the drive.
Today I was able to successfully update the FW of my two 1 TB 990 Pro in my Galaxy Book Ultra to the new Firmware version with the Samsung Magician software and without any problems.
That said, Samsung Magician had no problem updating the 980 Pro but will not update the 990 Pro. I have tried everything I can think of including booting into the Linux (ISO on USB drive) environment - that approach says no valid drives found for updating.
I have a 980 Pro 2TB SSD with Heat Sink. It has firmware 4B2QGXA7. Magician says update firmware to 5B2QGXA7. When doing the Firmware Update it says wait 20 seconds then fails. It says "Failed to update firmware on the selected drive." I am running Windows 11 Pro 22H2 on an Intel NUC11TNBi7 i7 1...
I had the same problem. I cannot update the firmware of 980 Pro drive 2T running the 3B2QGXA7 firmware. I also tried to load the ISO to USB, but it would just boot to black screen too. What happened? I cannot believe Samsung is so bad. I bought Samsung's SSD for its high quality to avoid trouble. However, it became a big trouble.
