The Thomas Sumter Academy archery team has only existed for six years, but it has made the most of its time. The Generals have made regular appearances in the state tournament and have won two SCISA titles in their short history. On Monday, they aimed for a third title, but COVID-19 has changed the way the competition looks. The Meeting House is Sumter’s newest event venue, and it’s historical past was celebrated recently at its grand opening. The home of the family of General Thomas Sumter, the American Revolutionary general who is Sumter’s namesake, was renovated at the corner of Memorial Park in the historic district.
