The "drawer sign test" in dogs is a physical exam performed by a veterinarian to check for a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), which is the equivalent of the ACL in humans. A positive test indicates the ligament is ruptured, causing a unique forward and backward sliding movement of the tibia and femur bones in the stifle (knee) joint, like a drawer opening and closing."
