Today we remember the worst disaster in ocean racing history when, in 1979, a huge storm hit the Fastnet race. The lives of those that were lost and the bravery of those involved in the rescue operation will never be forgotten. | RNLI

Helicopters from RNAS Culdrose played a crucial role in the biggest UK rescue in peacetime during the Fastnet Race of 1979 - now, 40 years later, we remember those that died and those who risked their lives to save others.
